Big Brother's Ken shoots latest film at the Southern Daily Echo

Film director and Celebrity Big Brother star Ken Russell has paid a visit to the offices of the Southern Daily Echo - to shoot part of his latest film.

He was filming a short movie to promote the British Academy of Film and Television Arts 60 Seconds of Fame competition, and turned the spotlight on features writer Sally Churchward and sport reporter Adrian Kajumba.

As the director behind such hits as Tommy and Women in Love, Ken has won three BAFTAs.

His latest production, Newsreaders, features Sally and other members of the public showing off one of the famous awards.

Adrian also appears as a cameraman shooting a film on his mobile phone.

Editor Ian Murray said of Ken: "He is a friend of features writer Sally Churchward and came in before his Big Brother appearance.

"He lives in the New Forest and was making a film and asked if he could come in so we said 'yes, of course'."

He added: "We're pleased that Ken Russell, a celebrated director and well-known local figure, wanted to film here.

"I know Sally and Adrian enjoyed their moments in the limelight."

Ken, who made a big impact in the Big Brother house before walking out after a row with fellow contestant Jade Goody, shot his film at various locations in and around Southampton and the New Forest and said he was delighted to have the chance to film at the Echo.

He told the paper: "It is the dynamic dynamo of the south. It's all happening here."
