Evening News reporter comes under fire from DJ Chris Moyles

A reporter from the Norwich Evening News came under fire from Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles yesterday, after she wrote about his on air comments about the city.

Naomi Canton penned an article defending Norwich after the breakfast show host said he would rather go to the moon that visit the city because there was "more atmosphere on the moon".

But she was shocked when she turned on the radio to hear the DJ reading out her article on air, and berating her for writing a negative article. He thought she should have taken the opportunity to put a positive spin on his throwaway remark.

He told listeners that the Evening News article, which included Naomi's byline, had fallen into the "Chris Moyles is so rude" trap and that it was an article typical of a local paper.

He said: "People should complain (about the article) and say 'you know what - we don't care. It was a joke.'"

The article, which began "Come and have a go if you think you're lard enough", featured prominent local people defending the city in response to the the DJ's comments.
