Daventry Express man to take on Banbury editorship

Daventry Express editor Jason Gibbins is to leave the paper to edit the Banbury Guardian.

The 33-year-old will join his new title in the new year, succeeding Bridget Dakin, who is now editor of the Woking News & Mail.

Jason said: "It's an exciting time to be in the industry and I'm looking forward to developing the Banbury Guardian as a paper and on its website both of equal importance.

"I'm very excited by the challenge and we need to ensure that, in whatever format, the Banbury Guardian is breaking news."

Jason (pictured) has been editor of the Daventry Express for three years, having previously been deputy editor of the Buckingham Advertiser and Review Group.

During his time at the Express he has helped increase its pagination and seen it grow into a full-colour product as well as overseeing a redesign and developing its website.

Jason said: "I'd like to thank the staff, readers and advertisers at Daventry for their support over the past three years. It has been a lot of fun and I'll miss Daventry and the community."

Jason began his journalism career in 1993 as a reporter on the Northampton Chronicle & Echo, before joining the Buckingham Advertiser and Review Group - which comprises the Buckingham and Winslow Advertiser, the Brackley and Towcester Advertiser and the Bicester Review - as deputy news editor.

After four years he moved to the Coventry Evening Telegraph to work as a sub-editor before returning to Buckingham as become deputy editor.

In his current role Jason is also responsible for the Daventry Review.

Both the Daventry titles and the Banbury Guardian are part of Johnston Press's Central Counties Newspapers.
