Mark Lingard goes west to become deputy editor

Mark Lingard has left the Wakefield Express to become deputy editor of the Powys County Times at Welshpool.

The County Times is the flagship weekly title in the North Wales Newspapers stable.

At the Johnston Press-owned Wakefield title, Mark has enjoyed spells as news editor and as a sub-editor.

Prior to that he was a reporter on the Rotherham Advertiser and the Hunts Post.

Born in Sheffield, he grew up in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, and attended university in Liverpool and New York.

Mark succeeds Nic Outterside, who has been promoted as editor of sister title the Denbighshire Free Press.
