Burton Mail and Cambridge Evening News owners Iliffe News and Media have bought The Advertiser series of free titles from Observer Standard Newspapers.

The Hertfordshire series publishes four titles, in Hitchin, Welwyn Garden City, Stevenage and Biggleswade, which will become part of Iliffe's Herts and Essex Newspapers, which publishes the Hertfordshire Mercury Series and Herts & Essex Observer Series.

Iliffe also publishes a number of titles in Bedfordshire, including Bedfordshire on Sunday.
