Journalist's brain is donated to medical science

A former Derby Evening Telegraph journalist who suffered from Alzheimer's has had his brain donated to medical science.

David Milner died last month aged 76.

He had worked at the Telegraph during the 1940s after leaving school, and left the paper in 1951 after national service in Egypt.

He later went to work as a shipping agent in the Inidian province of Assam and also worked in Calcutta before returning to Britain.

David had suffered from Alzheimer's disease for the past 12 years, and his brain has now been donated to medical science.

His widow, Sheila, said she hoped that "some good may come out of his death in the advancement of research into this pernicious disease".

David also leaves three children. His funeral was held last Friday.
