News 'running-phobes' train for 10K race

Self-confessed running-phobes at the Chard and Ilminster News are in training for a 10k race.

Chief reporter Alex Cameron and reporters Matthew Colledge and Laura Thorpe have hit the road to get in shape for the annual Ilminster Lions 10k Race on November 5.

The team is hoping to encourage as many people as possible to take part in the race, which raises money for Lions charity funds.

  • (L-R) Laura, Matthew and Alex
  • As well as regular updates in the paper, the team is writing a blog on the News' website, www.chardandilminsternews.co.uk

Alex said: "To begin with I wasn't sure which was more daunting, the 10k race or writing the blog.

"But we've had good feedback from the blog and it's provided a good chance to let off steam every now and then!"

The so-called 'Jog Log Blog' is a first for Newsquest Somerset.
