The Argus in Brighton has appointed an environmental co-ordinator for the first time in a bid to increase its coverage of green issues.
Sarah Lewis joined The Argus team on October 2 to oversee the paper's environmental content.
Its Weekend supplement will now feature a two-page spread on environmental issues and there will be a greater environmental focus throughout the paper.
Sarah said: "It's a fantastic opportunity and I'm really excited about it.
"Although the environment does get some attention in the paper, it's a serious topic that really needs driving forward.
"It's a very widely-read publication and it's great to be able to get the green message across to so many people."
Sarah will also be blogging about her experiences "greening up" The Argus on its website.
Prior to joining the paper she had worked as a freelance journalist and also for the Brighton publication Insight until it was bought earlier this year.
She joined its new incarnation Insight City News but left after a month to launch Rocks Magazine, focusing primarily on mind, body, spirit and green issues, with the aim of filling the gap left by the original Insight.
Sarah will continue to edit Rocks alongside her duties at The Argus.
She will also be advising Newsquest Sussex on how to make the business as environmentally-friendly as possible.
