Argus marks centenary of city landmark with 48-page magazine

The South Wales Argus in Newport helped celebrate the centenary of one of the city's landmark bridges by publishing a 48-page glossy magazine.

Spanning a Century took a loving look at the history of and the many stories surrounding the Transporter Bridge, one of only eight such constructions in the world.

The Newport bridge is one of only two working Transporter Bridges in the UK, the other being in Middlesbrough.

South Wales Argus editor Gerry Keighley said: "We could not let the centenary of the bridge pass without some form of commemmoration."

The magazine was given away free with copies of the Argus and is also being sold separately for £2.
