May steps up at News Shopper

Jean May has been appointed as the new editor of the News Shopper series in south east London.

Jean, (pictured), has been deputy editor of the Newsquest title for the last eight years and has been promoted with immediate effect.

She succeeds Andrew Parkes, who now has editorial responsibility for all of Newsquest's south London titles, and will continue to report to him.

Andrew said: "I am delighted that Jean has accepted the role of editor at News Shopper.

"She has been an excellent deputy editor and will, I'm sure, rise to the varied and exciting challenges the new role will bring.

"I look forward to working with her in her new role and am sure she will lead News Shopper by example, utilising all her customary determination and commitment."

Prior to joining the News Shopper, Jean had worked at the Bradford Telegraph & Argus and the Northern Echo, and was also deputy/acting editor of the Gateshead Post.

The News Shopper's circulation area takes in Bexley, Bromley, Lewisham, Greenwich, Eltham, Woolwich, Dartford and Gravesend.

In addition to the News Shopper, Newsquest's south London titles include the Surrey Comet, Richmond & Twickenham Times Series and the South London Guardian series.
