New editor steps up to take charge at the Coalville Times

Robyn Slingsby has started work as the new editor of the Coalville Times.

Working out of offices in Coalville, Leicestershire, Robyn, (26), is now responsible for the weekly Times newspaper, with change page editions for Ashby and Swadlincote, as well as the free North West Leicestershire and South Derbyshire Leader.

She joins the paper from Shropshire Newspapers Ltd where she started as a trainee at the Ludlow and South Shropshire Journal, latterly working as assistant editor of the award-winning North Shropshire Chronicle and acting editor of the Newport and Market Drayton Advertiser.

She was also a finalist in the headline of the year category at the 2005 Midlands Media Awards.

Robyn said: "It has always been my ambition to be an editor and now I have the chance to inject some new life into the Times and turn it into a real community newspaper.

"I have lots of ideas and enthusiasm and am looking forward to settling in and giving our readers a quality product.

"I learned so much at Shropshire Newspapers Ltd and now I can put it into practice."
