Press club welcomes new directors

Birmingham Press Club has appointed two new directors to its board.

Jane Robbins, who runs Warwick marketing company JR Promotions Ltd, and Melissa Dickinson, PR and marketing manager for Birmingham solicitors Putsmans, will help boost the club's events and sponsorship activities.

Birmingham Press Club is the oldest press club in the world, and runs a series of celebrity lunches and networking events as well as the annual Midlands Media Awards.

Other board members include former Birmingham Post business editor Fred Bromwich, former Bromsgrove Messenger, Solihull Times and Birmingham Daily News journalist Philip Parkin and former Birmingham Evening Mail photographer Tony Flanagan.

Chairman John Lamb said: "Our two latest recruits will focus on events, which is a key area for the club.

"After a fairly quiet time in recent years, we have breathed new life into the club's events activities, and things are really beginning to take off now.

"In October we will staging the Midlands Media Awards, and have a number of other exciting events in the pipeline."
