Tilley takes the helm at the Gazette

David Tilley has become the new editor of the Uxbridge Gazette Series.

The 32-year-old had previously been assistant editor of Newsquest's Wimbledon Guardian and Wandsworth Borough News.

He succeeds Liz Bellchambers, who is now working in PR at Uxbridge College.

David said: "I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm getting to know the area and there is a really nice team here.

"It is a good news patch with a mix of village stuff and hard news, and the area has its own identity rather than the urban sprawl of much of London.

"I have always fancied being in charge of my own paper and am hopeful that we can take it forward.

"I'm trying to make it more featurey and bring in a bit of humour."

Prior to becoming assistant editor at the Wimbledon Guardian and Wandsworth Borough News, David had also worked at the sister titles as a senior reporter, chief reporter and news editor.

He began his career at the Bucks Herald in Aylesbury.

  • The Uxbridge Gazette Series has four editions, covering Harefield, Hayes and Harlington, Ruislip and Northwood, and Uxbridge.
