Crash dash for journalism trainers during new office reception

Journalism trainers rushed to the rescue and left the launch of the new NCTJ offices to help motorists involved in a smash outside.

An elderly man and his wife were in a car which was involved in collision with a tractor on the main road outside the office of the National Council for the Training of Journalists in Newport, Essex.

Photography board chairman and former South Wales Argus photographer Peter Dash rushed to help, and alerted the emergency services.

NCTJ photography board member Steve Phillips, the picture editor of the South Wales Evening Post, took pictures of the accident.

He said: "The couple were very shaken and taken to hospital."
