Jobs to go at Chronicle as subbing and sport is moved

Four jobs are to go at the Hampshire Chronicle in Winchester as subbing and production of the weekly title is moved to Southampton.

Three sub-editors currently based at Winchester are to be transferred to join colleagues at the offices of sister paper the Southern Daily Echo in Southampton.

The sports desks of the Echo and Chronicle are to be merged, with one reporter from Winchester moving to Southampton.

In addition, free sister titles the Southampton Advertiser and the NewsEXTRA in Winchester are to be combined to create the NewsEXTRA and Advertiser series, which will be produced in Southampton rather than Winchester.

As a result of the changes four full-time posts are being lost in Winchester, and the company is now seeking voluntary redundancies.
