Dundee's Evening Telegraph has published its 40,000th issue.
The DC Thomson newspaper was first published in 1877, and to mark its latest milestone Dundee Lord Provost John Letford was on hand to start the presses rolling at its Kingsway facility.
He also toured the Evening Telegraph offices, meeting staff and seeing the process of putting the paper together from start to finish.
And the day was captured on film with a full staff photo of all those involved in the production of the 40,000th issue.
The Lord Provost told them: "Congratulations on your 40,000 edition. My earliest recollections of the Tele, like most football-minded persons, was reading from back to front.
"The readers' letters was always, of course, an amusement - nowadays, of course, it's interesting to see what the nice readers of Dundee are saying about me and the council. We usually come in for a bit of stick, but its always good reading."

Readers were also included in the celebrations, and were treated to a special 24-page supplement which looked back at the history of the paper from hot metal to electronic publishing, as well as some of the local stories covered by the Evening Telegraph over the years.
In addtion there were a number of competitions and give-aways, including the chance to win a £4,000 cruise and a £1,000 community anniversary award for young people.
The four-edition Evening Telegraph has an average daily circulation of 25,050.
