City vendor gives up smoking as new laws kick in

The ban on public smoking which started on March 26 in Scotland has already had an impact on one of Glasgow's Evening Times vendors.

Gordon Monteith volunteered to give up smoking as part of a Stop Smoking campaign being run by the Evening Times.

And it was not just Gordon, (below), who took part.

All of the 55 city centre vendors will be giving away thousands of free air fresheners with the paper as part of a Scottish Executive campaign to stub out smoking in public during the month.

The effects have not just been positive as far as sales, but also for Gordon who says, "I ran for the bus the other day....and actually caught it!"
