Former Evening Mail boss Roger Borrell has won a new editorship, being appointed to the biggest-selling county magazine in the country, Lancashire Life, along with its sister title Lake District Life.

Roger, (51), was Trinity Mirror's editor-in-chief for the Midlands until last year. He also spent four years editing the Birmingham Evening Mail.

He was born in the north west and edited the Lancashire Evening Post, overseeing the title's award-winning broadsheet-to-tabloid conversion. Prior to that, he was deputy editor of the Newcastle Evening Chronicle.

Roger said: "I'm delighted to be joining Lancashire Life. This is a tremendously strong publication - the biggest selling county magazine in the whole country.

"Its sister title, Lake District Life, shows huge potential so my brief is to work with the team in Preston to take both magazines to the next level of success.

"I was particularly attracted by the fact these magazines require a very hands-on editor."

Archant Life is the largest regional magazine publisher in the UK with around 40 different county and town glossy magazine titles.

Lancashire Life has an ABC circulation of 22,551 per month. Sister title Lake District Life sells around 6,000 copies bi-monthly. Roger will take up his position on April 18.
