New-look Leader designed to create an impact

A new Evening Leader hit the streets this week with a different look, a new size and a new daily features section.

The new version of the North Wales Newspapers title, with editions covering North East Wales and Chester, is the result of an extensive research programme and is aiming for a more contemporary presentation.

There is a new masthead and the editorial and classified sections have been completely redesigned to create impact and add more human interest.

  • Editor-in-chief Barrie Jones said: "The re-launch is the result of a monumental effort by every department.

“We have a loyal readership and we are keen to keep them satisfied with content they know and like.

“At the same time we want to give the Evening Leader a new contemporary look with a new masthead that moves away form the traditional red top image and changed typography and design styles that allows for some eye-catching story presentation.

“The relaunch has also involved a reduction of web width to present the title in a new sized format that we hope our readers like.

“Of course we're very proud of the Leader's heritage and want to retain all those elements that have made it what it is while adding a few modern flavours as we go. We're pleased with the results this week of all the hard work."
