Advertiser office moves down the road...

Herts Advertiser staff in St Albans have moved offices after 35 years.

Their new offices two miles away at Porters Wood replace the previous cramped premises at Campfield Road.

It was another milestone in the Herts Advertiser's history which celebrated its 150th anniversary last July and won the Newspaper Society's award for Best Free Newspaper in the South East including Greater London.

Archant Herts & Cambs managing director Stuart McCreery said: "The new office is a huge improvement on Campfield Road which had become a very tired and cluttered place of work.

“The new furniture and layout gives staff a neater and organised workspace in which a team spirit can be further developed.”

The move took place over a weekend with staff in the accounts, advertising and editorial departments packing on the Thursday and Friday. Technical staff then arrived on Friday afternoon to move computers and phones to the new offices.

On Saturday the removals company transported everything else and on Monday staff swung into action - overcoming a few gremlins along the way - to get that week's edition out.
