Green-fingered hack takes on his own allotment

When Stroud News & Journal reporter James Davis took over the paper's Green Scene page he decided it was time to get down to some grass roots journalism so that he could practice what he preached.

Enlisting the help of the other two reporters on the paper he acquired an allotment and plans to give readers a running progress report on his successes.

Most weekends have found him and reporter Alli Pyrah and Sian Davies tilling the soil and the rest of the staff back at the office are eagerly awaiting the first basket of organic produce.

Sian has now left the paper and a new reporter joined, unaware that she needs to bring wellies and a pitch fork and any vague knowledge of gardening would be appreciated!
