Stroud News & Journal news editor Tamash Lal has never been accused of lying down on the job - until now.
He agreed to be the newsroom's guinea pig to try out a reader competition to win a metamorphic session.
During a session the recipient removes their shoes and socks and the practitioner uses a light touch on the spinal reflex points in the feet, hands and head.
Tamash said: "When I agreed to undergo a session of the metamorphic technique I half expected the practitioner to walk through the door with a cocoon.
"It was strange having my feet massaged in the office and it wasn't easy answering the phones.
"But there have been times in the week since when I have been full of nostalgia for that brief glorious hour."
