Evening Herald investigations editor William Telford spent an evening with Plymouth’s pub and club door staff to get an insight into their work – and the people who try to blag their way in.
He found queues of youngsters with ID cards to prove their age, likening the queue to the checkpoint scene from the film, The Great Escape. By 1am 60 people have been turned away from one venue alone – mostly due to being drunk but many for being under-age.

A new chronicle of the history of Swindon is to be produced by The Advertiser, and the newspaper is asking readers to come forward with their own material to give the fullest-possible picture.
