The Evening Chronicle in Newcastle has immortalised Alan Shearer’s 201st goal for Newcastle United – a strike that made him the club’s highest-ever scorer.

The paper went to town and published a 48-page picture special supplement, celebrating each and every one of Shearer’s 201 goals.

The Chronicle hailed his feat as a landmark both for the region and Newcastle United’s history - and fully worthy of celebration.

Editor Paul Robertson said: “I believe that the supplement will be a real collector’s item and talking point for some time… ‘Do you remember that one?’… ‘That one has to be the best?’… ‘That’s my favourite?’… are phrases that have already all been voiced in our office with a lot of passion.”
