Neil Fowler returns to UK journalism

Former regional press editor Neil Fowler has been appointed editor of consumer magazine Which? and will start his new job next month.

He is returning to the UK after two years, during which time he was publisher and chief executive officer of The Toronto Sun.

But he left that post in May and has now won his new post at Which?

Neil is a former editor of the Western Mail, Newcastle Journal and Derby Evening Telegraph. He is also a past president of the Society of Editors.

His first editorship was at the Lincolnshire Echo in 1984, when he became Northcliffe Newspapers' youngest editor, aged 29.

He began his career at the Leicester Mercury aged 22.

His last job in the UK was joint acting managing director of the Western Mail & Echo, which publishes the Western Mail, South Wales Echo and Wales on Sunday.
