The Lincolnshire Echo is considering moving its printing to other Northcliffe centres.
A proposal has been made because customers were demanding more colour than the Brayford Wharf East press can provide.
The company has begun a 30-day consultation period with the 30 staff who work there.
No decision has yet been made, but if the closure goes ahead printing would be moved by the middle of February, possibly to the Grimsby plant.
Echo managing director David Waghorne said that the closure proposal had been made with regret.
He added that there was a need for more colour in The Echo for readers and advertisers.
