Readers of the Kentish Gazette helped orphans in the Ukraine and homeless people in Canterbury to enjoy a better Christmas by donating hundreds of bags of food and clothing.

As part of the paper's appeal, Show You Care This Christmas, readers gave food, warm clothes and presents to unwrap on Christmas Day, many of which had been hand-made.

The donations were collected from the Gazette offices in Canterbury by British Humanitarian Aid, which works with sick and poverty-stricken children in the Ukraine, and the Scrine Foundation, which runs Canterbury Open Centre and works with teenagers in danger of becoming homeless.
