The sale of Scotsman Publications Ltd to Johnston Press has been completed.
The £160m deal was agreed last month and means the morning Scotsman newspaper, the Edinburgh Evening News, Scotland on Sunday, the weekly free Edinburgh Herald & Post series, and the website www.scotsman.com have all now been added to Johnston's growing portfolio.
Scotsman Publications Ltd had previously been owned by The Press Holdings Group, the holding company of the Barclay Brothers, who also own the Telegraph Group.
The deal follows Johnston's earlier purchase of Irish newspaper publishers Local Press Limited and The Leinster Leader Limited in two separate deals.
In August it also bought 45 local weekly newspapers in a £155m deal. The Score Press papers had been owned by Scottish Radio Holdings and came via EMAP as part of EMAP's deal to buy the rest of Scottish Radio Holdings.
