Web editions nominated for Newspaper Awards

Online editions of several regional newspapers will be competing against offerings from the national press next month at the 2005 Newspaper Awards.

Following the announcement of the print nominees earlier this month, organisers have now revealed who will be fighting it out for the titles of Best Daily Newspaper on the World Wide Web and Best Weekly Newspaper on the World Wide Web.

The Eastern Daily Press' EDP24 heads the list in the daily category and, along with Scotsman.com, will compete against national newspaper websites FT.com, Guardian Unlimited, Sun Online and Telegraph.co.uk.

In the weekly category the online edition of the Ham & High has made the shortlist, along with the Newham Recorder, Scotland on Sunday, the Sunday Herald, Time & Star, Newsquest's Thisiswiltshire and Archant football site Pink 'Un.

Winners will be announced at the London Hilton on Park Lane on Wednesday, May 11.
