Alphason TV Stands from Go Electrical

Sudden departure for Herald's Douglas Home

Mark Douglas Home has stepped down from his role as editor of The Herald in Glasgow.

He told staff of his departure yesterday afternoon and leaves the paper with immediate effect.

Deputy editor Joan McAlpine will be acting editor of the broadsheet title until a successor is appointed.

  • Mark, (53), joined The Herald five years ago, having previously been editor of Sunday Times Scotland.

    He is also a former deputy editor of Scotland on Sunday and news editor of the Scotsman, as well as being The Independent's Scotland correspondent from 1986 to 1990.

    Earlier this year The Herald was named Newsquest Daily Newspaper of the Year.
