BBC journalist to be new managing editor at Brentwood Gazette

BBC journalist Matthew Holder is to become the new managing editor of the Brentwood Gazette.

He succeeds Roger Watkins who is now editor-in-chief of Courier Newspapers in Tunbridge Wells, and will join the company on November 28.

Matthew, (33), currently runs one of the BBC's news and current affairs websites, and has previously worked for the Press Association, the Daily Mirror and the weekly Gazette Newspaper Series in Hampshire.

He will not take up the day-to-day running of the Brentwood office until January 1, undergoing an induction programme in December.

In the meantime, Keith Parker will continue as acting editor.

  • The four-edition Gazette has a circulation of 17,851 (ABC Jan - June 2005).
