South-west weekly the Weston and Somerset Mercury is twice the paper it used to be.
Readers are being given the chance to read more local news with the publication being split into two distinct editions.
The Weston Mercury and the Somerset Mercury, which are written in Weston-super-Mare, have extra news from their respective patches but also a mix of news from the other edition.
Each edition carries ten change pages which go back as far as page 19 and there are changes to the sports pages too.
The new Mercury
News Editor Andy Ridgway said: "So many of the pages are changed that it’s almost been like launching a new paper.
"The reaction we have had from readers has been very positive. We have been able to provide them with much more ‘nitty-gritty’ community news from their immediate area.
"We have a core of loyal readers so we have been careful not to be too parochial about things and take away the news from elsewhere they are interested in. It has been a difficult balancing act but we hope we have got it right."
The Archant South West newspaper was launched in 1843, but it has never stopped evolving.
It currently sells around 17,000 copies.
