The Newspaper Society is holding a marketing law seminar in London today.
It is due to cover a wide range of marketing law topics which the press needs to consider before publishing advertisements.
The programme includes discrimination, the potential legal pitfalls associated with using celebrity in advertisements, dos and don’ts relating to charity fundraising and other topics.
There is a range of high profile speakers including senior government advisors and leading specialist legal practitioners.
The event, which is accredited by the Law Society and Bar Council, will be chaired by Tom Vick of Duckworth, Finn, Grubb & Watters.
It is being held at the Canonbury Academy.
In addition to the seminar, the Newspaper Society is also publishing Advertisement Points to Watch – A Guide to Advertising and Law and Practice, to help both publishers and advertisers spot sales promotions and copy content issues before they become expensive legal headaches.
