Newspaper reunion attracts former staff from around the world

Former staff of the Reading Evening Post have met up to celebrate the paper’s 40th anniversary.

Some travelled from abroad for the event, held at their former 'local' pub close to their old office.

Richard Reed, who was a former photographer of the paper contacted more than 400 ex-staff for the reunion.

Among nearly 150 people participating the event, about 90 per cent of them were from the first 20 years.

Many of them are now still working as journalists while some of them have moved to new careers.

Richard said that he was glad that so many former colleagues could show up especially those from foreign countries such as Canada, America and Greece.

The event was held at Holiday Inn of Reading which was the newsroom’s former favourite watering hole, the old Caversham Bridge Hotel.
