A 101-year-old navy hero has won a battle to have his toenails cut free on the NHS – thanks to the York Evening Press.
Because of the paper’s battle, Raymond Perrett, the last surviving crew member of HMS Victory, has also leapt to the top of a waiting list, despite being told he’d have to wait a year to get the nails cut by health service podiatrists.
