The Press Association has appointed Robert Freeman as deputy head of multimedia editorial. He joins the national news agency from the BBC.
In this newly created role, Robert will support head of multimedia, Asha Oberoi, in the development of The Press Association's multimedia services and will have particular responsibility for technology and delivery of multimedia products.


NewsWales.co.uk founder and editor Dan Whitmore has died, aged 39, after suffering with a rare genetic disorder, Von Hippel Lindau syndrome.
He worked on a number of newspapers, the last being The Heart of Wales Chronicle, which he established in 1994, before selling the newspaper in 1998 and launching NewsWales in 1999.


A robber handed himself into the police and confessed to a robbery after reading about his victim’s injuries in the Grimsby Telegraph.
He told the crown court that he was so filled with remorse that he owned up to a second robbery of which the victim had not even come forward.
