The Cambridge Evening News has greeted the new football season with a redesigned sports section and revamped Monday pull-out.
With Cambridge United dropping into the conference, the paper now has no league team in its circulation area.
So editor Murray Morse decided it was a good time to look again at the pages, and sports editor Chris Gill and his team were given the task of giving the pages a fresh look.
Changes include a redesigned sports masthead and the renaming of the paper's 12-page Monday section to SportsCENe.
The flagship Monday pull-out was given a top-to-bottom redesign, using headlines in ITC Franklin Gothic or Ellington MT.
Page furniture from football match stats panels to scorelines and bylines were also given a makeover, and a host of new features were brought in, including a punters panel, where fans give their opinions on the game.
Ex-Newcastle, Portsmouth and Coventry striker Micky Quinn, who is now a racehorse trainer at nearby Newmarket, has also joined the team, and is writing a column every Friday entitled 'Who Ate All The Pies', in honour of his slightly round physique during his playing days.
Murray said: "Our treatment of Cambridge United will be no different than last season, even though they have been relegated.
"What we have decided though is to beef up the coverage of both Histon and Cambridge City, which are only one league below, so their fans get the same service.
"We have also increased the number of other non-league games we cover so local football fans can get all the information they want in one pull-out.
"The work that Chris and his team have done is first class and given us a boost for the start of the season. We are now hoping our local sides follow with success on the pitch."
