Penman resigns from Evening Telegraph

David Penman has resigned as editor of the Evening Telegraph in Kettering.

The 45-year-old left the Johnston Press-owned newspaper this week after three years at the helm.

Before joining the Evening Telegraph David had been editorial director of Johnston's Yorkshire Regional Newspapers and editor of the Scarborough Evening News.

He has also previously edited the Rugby Advertiser, been deputy editor of the Evening Telegraph in Kettering and worked at the Bury Free Press and Evesham Journal.

His departure follows that of deputy editor Eileen Green, who had been at the title since 1989, earlier this year. She now edits the Rutland and Stamford Mercury.

Production editor Richard Yetman also left the Evening Telegraph in February to edit the Town Crier series in Cambridgeshire.

The Evening Telegraph sells 27,536 (Mon-Fri, ABC July to Dec 2004), down 6.7 per cent year on year.
