The Argus in Brighton is changing its edition structure from two timed editions to two geographic editions.
The Newsquest-owned title says the change, which will take effect on August 1, is in response to feedback from readers.
A city edition will serve Brighton and Hove, while a county edition will cover the rest of Sussex.
Each edition will have more specific in-depth news and information about the local community to help attract new readers.
Martyn Willis, managing director of Newsquest (Sussex), said: "Following extensive research and trials over the past 18 months, The Argus is to change the edition structure of the paper to better reflect the needs of the communities it serves.
"Our readers have told us that they are more interested in in-depth news, information and comment about their local community than they are about the issues from further afield.
"This means we will be concentrating on bringing our readers the most comprehensive, compelling and informed coverage from early morning."
The move will not result in any redundancies, although the company says that nine van drivers who work for The Argus on a contract basis will have their contracts ended.
The Argus currently sells 38,361, (Mon-Fri ABC Jul-Dec 2004), a year-on-year decline of 9.7 per cent.
