Readers of the Croydon Guardian are being given the chance to win a date with a reporter after voting him more eligible than one of the UK's 50 most eligible bachelors.
The newspaper reported how local firefighter Adam Love had been named one of the country's top 50 eligible bachelors by Company magazine, and decided to spice up its coverage by pitting one of its own reporters, Sami Mokbel, against him in an online poll.
The pair went head-to-head in a 'hot or not' contest on the Guardian's website, and readers were asked to rate both singletons out of ten.
But while 25-year-old firefighter Adam scored an average of just 2.73 out of ten, journalist Sami (pictured) scored an impressive average of seven out of ten.

Sami, (23), said: "My editor thought it would be a laugh but I didn't expect to win - I've had a lot of stick from my mates!
"I personally thought Adam gave an all-round better package than I have but I'm delighted to have won."
Now readers are being invited to e-mail the newsdesk with a reason why they should win a date with Sami.
He said: "I was ill on Tuesday so I didn't know anything about the competition until I read it in the paper on Wednesday.
"I don't get to choose where we go so we'll see what happens!"
