New editors for Sussex titles

New editors have been appointed at a number of weekly newspapers in Sussex.

A reshuffle at several titles owned by Johnston Press will see Eastbourne Herald and Gazette editor Peter Lindsey return to the group's Hastings titles after eight years in Eastbourne.

He will again take up the role of group editor, responsible for the paid-for Hastings Observer, Bexhill Observer, Rye and Battle Observer, and the free Hastings and Bexhill AdNews, later this month - succeeding Michael Beard who is now group editor at Newsquest Sussex.

Succeeding Peter will be Peter Austin, who is moving from the Lewes-based Sussex Express.

Paul Watson, who is currently editor of the Mid Sussex Times, will take over at Lewes.

And Graeme Campbell, editor of the Crawley Observer, will move to become editor at the Mid Sussex Times.

  • The Sussex Express has an average weekly circulation of 16,169, while the Mid Sussex Times sells an average of 13,899.
