New editor at the North Star

Jackie MacKenzie has been appointed editor of the North Star.

She joined the newspaper yesterday, succeeding Willie Morrison who has moved to the Inverness Courier.

Jackie (pictured) has been working on newspapers in the Highlands for 16 years and joined Scottish Provincial Press, owners of the North Star, in 1997.

For the past eight years she has been senior reporter on the Ross-shire Journal, based in Dingwall.

Before joining SPP she was a staff reporter on the Press and Journal for almost eight years, covering news from its Dingwall, Inverness, Aberdeen and Fort William offices.

Jackie said: "I am delighted to be taking on the editorship of the North Star and look forward to continuing my special relationship with Ross-shire newspaper readers and to covering lots of new issues with the county's lively tabloid."
