Argus celebrates 125 years in print

The Argus in Brighton is celebrating 125 years in print.

The daily newspaper first hit the streets in 1880, and to mark its achievement the newspaper has organised a series of events and features, including a commemorative supplement and a birthday reception.

The newspaper has also launched a poster competition, asking local artists to produce a poster to sum up the city, and it is asking readers to vote for the top ten people who have changed Sussex, from a list of 125 drawn up by the Argus.

In May local dignitaries will attend a reception at the city's Theatre Royal, to toast the longevity of the paper and its important role within the community, and the Argus is also holding a 125 Race Day on July 3.
