Editor takes to airwaves for Comic Relief job swap

A media job swap for Comic Relief saw a new editor take over at the East Anglian Daily Times for the day - as regular editor Terry Hunt took to the airwaves at BBC Radio Suffolk.

Newspaper man Terry, who has edited the EADT for nine years, agreed to the stunt to build awareness for this year's Red Nose Day.

And as he filled in for BBC Radio Suffolk presenter Rachel Sloane, presenting a live three-hour music and chat show, Rachel became the EADT's first woman editor.

  • Terry, (47), said: "It was quite nerve-wracking because it is so instant and public, but it was good fun.

"Trying to juggle all the different elements was the biggest challenge, and my biggest fear was saying something I would regret.

"It was three hours but it seemed like five minutes - it flashed by so quickly because there was so much to think about."

He added that Rachel had made a "positive contribution" to the EADT during her day in the editor's chair.

He said: "She chaired the editorial meetings, came up with feature ideas and wrote a leader on Comic Relief - now we just have to wait and see the sales figures!"

The job swap also raised £155 for Comic Relief after the first issue off the presses of the Red Nose Day edition, edited and signed by Rachel, was auctioned off.
