News in brief

A teenage asylum seeker threatened with deportation has won his bid to stay in the UK thanks to a campaign spear-headed by the Bournemouth Daily Echo.
Thousands of readers got behind the campaign to let Andrei Bazanov stay after the paper told his plight, and he has now been given leave to stay for two years.

A group of 'page 3 girls' who appeared in the Lowestoft Journal have raised £18,000 for charity.
The women posed for daring photographs for a calendar, and the paper featured a picture a week for 12 weeks to help the fundraising effort.
Editor Russell Cook presented the money to the Ellie Savage Memorial Trust, which helps families with children who have cancer.

A networking evening for journalists and other media professionals is being held tomorrow, at On Anon, Piccadilly.
Organised by Kent-based journalist Janet Murray, the last event was attended by more than 60 people.
