Tributes paid to journalist found dead at cliffs

Tributes have been paid to a former regional press journalist who died after falling from cliffs.

The body of Robert House was found at the foot of cliffs in Rhossili last week.

Police are not treating his death as suspicious.

Robert, (51), had enjoyed a long career in the regional press, working as a reporter and sub-editor at newspapers including the Eton and Windor Express, the South Wales Evening Post and the South Wales Echo.

He also helped to launch Wales on Sunday, before moving to the Western Mail & Echo's special publications department.

He left the company in 1998 to set up his own business, as a freelance design consultant.

Friend and former colleague Colin Pressdee said: "Robert was a terrific character and those who worked with him and knew him held him in the highest regard.

"His humour and wit was legendary in his lifetime and his ability as a journalist and as an editor was unquestionable.

"He will be sadly missed by his friends and family."

Robert leaves a young son and three grown-up children.

His funeral will be held at Rhossili Church on Wednesday at 2.30pm. An inquest has been opened and adjourned into the death.
