Paper shows its support with £20,000 sponsorship pledge

The Scunthorpe Telegraph has agreed a new three-year sponsorship deal with Scunthorpe United.

The newspaper has been backing its local football club since 1995 with the sponsorship of the Telegraph Family Stand, and has now agreed a new £20,000-plus deal to extend its link with the club.

Telegraph editor Jon Grubb said: "Scunthorpe United is a vital part of the area. Its success reflects on the town and its residents and we will always do whatever we can to help the club and its supporters achieve success.

"We hope the sponsorship deal will put much-needed funds in the club's coffers as well as show the newspaper's support in a very public way.

"The paper has enjoyed following the club's progress this season but it's important to remember that the Telegraph will always be there reporting on the games and behind the scenes through thick and thin, come rain or shine."

  • The League Two team is currently second in the table - its best position for many years.
