Journalists' get-together planned

A networking event for journalists and other media professionals is being held in London next week.

Organised by Kent-based journalist Janet Murray, the evening will give people working in the media industry, either on a freelance or staff basis, a chance to meet colleagues, make contacts and share information.

It follows the success of a similar event held in November.

Janet, who also runs a writers' forum, said: "Last time we had more than 60 people turn up, most of whom were journalists and also a few who work in PR.

"The feedback I got, especially from freelances, was that it was nice to talk to other journalists, who perhaps write for the same publications, or to just generally meet other people who do the same thing.

"Sometimes when you are freelancing it can be difficult to get to know other journalists and it can seem quite lonely and solitary."

The event will be held on January 27 in The Velvet Room at Sway, near Holborn, from 7-9pm. All are welcome.

If you are planning to attend you should contact Janet on 07905 612992 or e-mail jan@janmurray.co.uk.
