Telegraph man to become 'master of own destiny'

Richard Yetman is to become the new editor of the Town Crier series in Cambridgeshire.

The 49-year-old, who is currently production editor at the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph, will take on his new role next month, in a move which will see him step into a highly-competitive newspaper patch.

The three-edition Town Crier, which covers St Neots, Huntingdon and St Ives, has a weekly distribution of 46,000, and shares a patch with other titles such as the award-winning Hunts Post.

Richard, who has previously edited the Whitstable Times and the Ashford Citizen, said: "Moving to the Town Crier is an exciting challenge and I plan to bring in fresh ideas, giving the paper a makeover and a new direction.

"With the right team and the right enthusiasm we can do great things."

For the past ten years Richard has worked at the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph, firstly as a sub-editor before becoming production editor, and he has also worked for the East Kent Gazette.

Richard said: "I felt that ten years in one place was too long and the opportunity to become master of my own destiny was one I couldn't resist.

"I've had great fun here and have learnt a lot. Working on an evening paper has given me a very different perspective of the business and I am looking forward to using that somewhere else."
