A new section aimed a web-savvy subs has been created by the West Midlands public transport promoter Centro on www.centronews.org.uk, with the aim of helping the media report on issues accurately.
And as well as detailing who does what and tackling typical misconceptions, it also sets out to address common mis-spellings of people and organisations.
It explains the difference between Centro and Central and looks at the confusion that can arise through different definitions of the West Midlands used by different Government and local government agencies.
Media manager Mik Barton said: "The transport industry is a maze of overlapping bodies with confusing names and responsibilities - and people can get very sensitive when the press gets things wrong.
"We want Centro News Online to be a valued resource for local and transport journalists - and we include subs too. We know they strive for accuracy and we all have an interest in getting facts clear."
